On Monday I officially started the first semester of my doctorate, and a classmate has already coined a term that has caught on among all of us: “nervited” aka nervous and excited. This pretty much sums it up! I’m already enjoying being a student again, though it will take a little bit of time to figure out how to manage running my companies and studying. (So if BeEmbraced posts are a little sparse in the coming weeks, it’s because I’m trying to figure out my time management.)
Last week while John was on a business trip, I flew to Annapolis, where my parents were docked on their boat. It was partly a business trip for me as well because my dad filmed about 15 new videos of me for my websites. In between being a movie star (haha), we enjoyed exploring quaint Annapolis. Dad and I also went on a couple of runs around the town.
We also toured the Naval Academy, which was a beautiful campus, particularly the chapel. (You can click the pictures to see them bigger.)
From Annapolis, I flew to Orlando and met John there, ready to celebrate our friends Jackie and Charlie for their wedding. We arrived in time to finish helping the Shackelford’s set up their BBQ for the out-of-town guests and wedding party. Emma and I took the BBQ seriously in our cowboy boots!
On Friday before the rehearsal dinner, John, Emma, and I hung out (Amy is traveling in Europe for the summer!). We went for a bike ride, played volleyball, kicked around the soccer ball (inspired by the World Cup!), and went swimming. It was a fun, active day before John headed to the wedding rehearsal and we met him to celebrate at the rehearsal dinner.
Then Saturday… the wedding! The ceremony was in the Rollins College Chapel, where John and I were married, so it was strange being in the pews and seeing John up front as a groomsman. The reception was at the Rosalind Club and had beautiful old Florida theme/decor. Emma, John, and I had fun dancing on the dance floor before sending off the bride and groom with glow sticks. A fun weekend!
